We all know that Ireland experiences the four seasons. Nonetheless we are always equipped for the outdoors all year round. We are lucky enough to experience very few major weather events but with any outdoor adventure, monitoring the weather pattern is good advice.
Here are our top tips for preparing for your Off the Beaten Track North West Trip.
It does rain quite a bit in Ireland so be sure to have rainproof clothing with you. Depending on the time of year, it may not be very cold so in some cases a relatively light-weight jacket that you can wear over other clothing would be ideal, combined with a hat or cap.
Again depending on the time of year you might want to consider what we call ‘layering’. This is where you have multiple layers allowing you to adjust to the weather and outdoor temperatures. If you are on a motorcycle this is a good idea. If travelling by car remember you will be stopping and jumping in and out of the car to have a closer look at many of our 56 points of interest.
Even in the dark winter when the some comes out it can be glaring so be sure to have your sunglasses with you no matter what time of year you arrive in Ireland.
If you are going to take us up on our offer of visiting some or all of our 56 points of interest then having a pair of good walking boots is recommended. There will be fields, hills and by-ways to cross so be sure to have the right footwear. Also make sure you have broken them in, in advance of your trip.
